One of the things i find very annoying on ibex is the gnome keyring. It is suppose to provide a secured means for applications to store password. But as always with security stuff it can get very annoying especially if you use a WPA secured wireless and you authenticate your login from a finger print reader. I get this keyring prompt every time i start my system. it can be very annoying i hate typing password. and although i use my finger print for my login authentication. Having to type the keyring pass code every time i login defeat the purpose. i tried searching but it seems there is no way to disable the keyring. This surely is a bug (used to exist in hardy heron but was fixed by updates). my only solution was to reset the keyring password and put in a low level passwd. something i can easily type. and remember. sure there are security implications for this so i wont advise you do this on an enterprise machine. to reset the gnome keyring you have to delete this file login.keyring found in this hidden directory .gnome/keyrings/ (more…)
