I updated Nero to ver 8 and Divx to its latest 6.X ver and still had the problem, I found it to be the Avi Codec pack Ver 3.2 causing the Com Sur error. uninstalled that and the error has disappeared.... but alas I'm unable to view .avi files now until someone repairs the Avi codec to be compatible with Vista!
